Glossy Starlet is my personal little free site that's all about me, my photography, my self portrait photographs, my live webcam and my daily journal. This is not a sex or porn site. This site is free and mine all mine so I do whatever the heck I want on it. The site is the real me- love it or leave.
Who am I?
My name is Jen and everything you see here has been made by me. All the pictures were taken by me, and are of me, and I made all the site graphics and layout, etc. I have a degree in photography but right now am primarily working as a website developer. Check out my other site, Jen's Ex. That site is a little more risque than this site, and is what I spend most of my time working on every day. When you see me on the cam, chances are I'm working on Jen's Ex. I also just got braces a few months ago and started Braces Babe to show off my teeth:)
What does the site's name mean?
To me the word glossy sums up my personality perfectly. Glossy means having a bright, shiny, lustrous, sleek, gleeming, smooth surface. I love lipgloss, bright colors, glitter, and shininess and the illusion of being ultra shiny. Whenever I've printed photographs I always go for ultra gloss and then laminate my photos a lot of times. While glossy also means superficially attractive in an artificial way, the contrast here is that I'm completely real and down to earth underneath my glossy surface:)
Starlet
is a star wannabe, a star in the making or
a future star. Hey, I can dream, can't I?
Starlet also means a small star, or a heavenly
body. hehe.

Stuff I Love...
Boogie Nights
Boogie Nights, Dazed & Confused and Little
City are among my favorite movies. I love
all things 70s and swear I was a teenager
in the 70s in a past life. Okay, logistically
I don't know how this is possible…
Black Lights
Black lights and glow-in-the-dark stuff fascinate
me. I will never stop marveling over the wonders
of these inventions. My favorite glowing experience
occurred when I found out that you can paint
with Woolite and it glows under black light.
Who knew?
Blue
Blue is my favorite color. It always has been
and always will be. You can't go wrong with
blue. Periwinckle is my favorite favorite
color, but all shades of blue are just peachy
with me.
Cameras
I like cameras because I know how to use them.
Well I did until my recent digital camera
purchase and I'm still getting the hang of
the stupid thing. I like disposable, underwater,
point and shoot, SLR, Medium Format and 4x5
cameras. Oh yeah and webcams too. While the
digital camera is great and essential I wish
it would behave more like my trusty Nikon
N90s.
Chapstick
The one item I absolutely cannot live without
is chapstick. If I was going on Survivor,
chapstick would be the one item I brought
with me. My lips are always super chapped
and I have to have my chapstick, or at least
lipgloss or Vaseline in order to function.
If I leave the house without any I freak out
and either go home ASAP or resort to buying
another chapstick. If I was going away for
a month, the only things I would have to bring
would be chapstick, Kleenex, a camera and
a bathing suit. There is nothing else I need!
Well okay maybe like a jacket or something
too since I'm always cold.
Cheesy TV Shows
Growing up as an only child I watched far
too much TV and I still do. I have a huge
list of favorite shows and have watched just
about every sitcom made since the early 70s.
I know it's nothing to be proud of but fuck
it. I love tv and I love bad tv.
Coffee
Coffee is a newer obsession of mine. I never
drank it in highschool and back then the specialty
coffee drinks hadn't really caught on. There
was no Starfucks and it wasn't until senior
year of highschool that I had my first Mochalatta
Chill from Cinnabon. I drank it and hated
it but now I love them and have acquired quite
an addiction to froo froo coffee drinks. I
love my Mochalatta Chills, my Starbucks Chocolate
Brownie Frappuccinos, and my Coffee Bean &
Tea Leaf Ice Blended Mochas. Now that I am
a starving artist yet again, this is one of
the only luxuries in which I still partake.
Cruises
I have been on one cruise and it was one of
the best vacations I've ever taken. It felt
like I was completely removed from the real
world and there was nothing to do but relax
and have fun. The hassles of normal travel
are gone (no switching hotel rooms from city
to city, no rental cars or planes to catch).
Your hotel room moves from place to place
with you, you can get drunk cause you don't
have to drive home, and the food is the best
I've had in my whole life. The cruise I went
on left from LA and went to Mexico, and I
can't wait to go on a Carribbean cruise this
summer!!
Disco Balls
As with glow-in-the-dark stuff, I love all
that glitters as well. Disco balls, body glitter,
glow sticks - I love it all. You can never
have enough glitter.
Erotic Art
Since starting my sites I've acquired a new
love for erotic art - art and images that
are sexy and provocative and not crass like
typical porn. Sometimes there's a fine line
between erotica and porn, and as the saying
goes - it's all about the lighting.
Fashion
My love for fashion has come and gone throughout
the years. As a pre-teen I was all about fashion
and begged my mom to buy me as much Esprit
as possible. My interest in fashion kind of
waned until sophmore year of college, when
I took my first fashion photography class.
Soon I was subscribing to Vogue, ripping out
tearsheets from fashion magazines, shooting
models, buying and returning expensive clothes
for shoots, and spending far too much money
on shopping for myself. Suddenly I was buying
$100 jeans and shoes and loving my credit
card a little too much. Now that I am poor
again I have learned to love Ross and Wet
Seal and have nearly renounced my old shopping
frenzy ways.
Flamingos
I used to not like flamingos. I don't know
why. Then a few years ago I went to the zoo
in Hawaii and saw a bunch of bright pink flamingos
hanging out at a bright blue pool. They were
so colorful and cool looking. I went back
with my camera and now have thousands of flamingo
pictures. Flamingos are kind of mean animals
and it's funny to watch them bitch at each
other and try to attack one another. Kind
of what I want to do to most people as well.
Oops, did I say that?
Hair Dye
God I love hair dye. My mom helped me try
to dye highlights in my hair when I was like
13 but they didn't do much. When I was 17
I went to San Francisco and stopped at Haight
Street and picked up Punky Color "Poppy Red"
hair dye. At the time they didn't sell this
sort of thing in Hawaii. Since I spent so
much time in the sun my hair was naturally
bleached out and when I applied the Punky
Color I turned into Ronald McDonald. I looooved
it and my two blond guy friends followed suit
and used the rest of the jar on themselves.
We almost got kicked out of school for being
three fire engine red freaks but I loved shocking
my fellow classmates. Now that would be the
least of worries attending highschool but
at the time we were the rebels of the senior
class and I loved it.
Happy Meals
One of the best values for your money is the
happy meal from McDonalds. You have to eat,
and if you're like me you don't know how to
cook. For $2.09 (prices may vary) you can
get a cheeseburger happy meal. You get a whole
meal for that price, plus a toy. Market value
for that toy is at least $1. So now we're
looking at $1.09 plus tax for the meal. I've
accumulated several thousand happy meal toys
and plan to make a small fortune when I sell
them. Okay, they aren't going for that much
the last I checked on Ebay, but still it's
kind of like free $$. I started getting happy
meals ever since they were first introduced
about 20 years ago, and except for a brief
period when I was too cool for them (age 12-14)
I've been collecting the silly fricking toys
ever since.
Hard Candy
This is the best makeup brand, and they have
the coolest website. Almost all of the eyeshadow
I wear is from Hard Candy because they make
the best colors, and the eyeshadow is ultra
pigmented, which means it goes on thick and
stays on. Yummmmm. I always seem to get a
new eye shadow compact for Christmas and they
last forever.
Hawaii
Okay I didn't like Hawaii much when I was
growing up because it was different than the
mainland and I wanted to go to a school that
had indoor hallways with lockers. My school
was all outdoors, except for the classrooms
themselves. Now that I'm older I can appreciate
Hawaii for what it is. There is a certain
feeling you get when you get off the plane
and walk towards baggage claim on the open
air walkway. The air smells like flowers and
people are relaxed and laid back and living
on Hawaii time. It's a whole different world
there.
Macaws
I never really thought much about macaws until
the summer before my junior year of college.
I saw an ad in the paper looking for someone
interested in earning lots of $ taking pictures
of tourists on the beach, with macaws. Can
you imagine a better job? Luckily I got the
job. Those darn birds sure can bite and I
almost went to the hospital once when the
two birds were hanging from my arm and leg
and ripping out chunks of my flesh. But you
gotta love them cause they're so cute. They
also like to fuck. No really - they had sex
like every day and mate for life, unlike most
animals. The girl bird acts like she doesn't
want the boy bird but you know she does. Finally
she gives in and lets him "in." K, that was
kinda gross.
Mochi
There's nothing like intensifying a craving
when that which you crave is a limited commodity.
Mochi and Poi are some of my favorite foods
and they are just about impossible to get
here on the mainland. They are Hawaiian favorites,
but still not the easiest thing to get there
either. Poi is mashed up taro root and it's
purple and slimy and tastes bitter. Yum. I
love it. Mochi is a Japanese dessert made
from mashed up sweet rice flour, and is especially
popular at New Years. It's quite hard living
without my mochi and poi but since they are
both perishable and expensive to ship here
I continue to live without them.
Montel Williams
Junior year of college is when I became obsessed
with Montel Williams. His show was on every
nite at midnite and I couldn't get enough
of it. I am deathly afraid of public speaking
but that year I had to take a public speaking
class. One of our speeches had to be about
a person and my Montel speech went over pretty
well. While I love most talk shows, recently
my love for Montel has waned and Oprah is
my new "it" talk show. Oprah used to seem
boring to me but I guess I am older and can
now fully appreciate Oprah and her topics.
I also like Jenny Jones because she's 50something
but acts really young and tries to be cool
and hip. But she seems genuinely really nice.
24 Hour-ness
Anything that's open
24 hours a day rocks. I usually stay up all
night and nothing is more comforting than
knowing you can go to the 7-11 whenever need
be. I freak when the mall and other stores
close early on Sundays. Since my websites
are 24/7 I wish everything was as well.
